Questions
Do I need to download files from my broker?
No. For Zerodha, Fyers, Dhan and Angel One, SMART logs in through a built-in browser and downloads your trade books and ledgers for you.
Is it for investors or traders?
Both. When you create an account you choose whether delivery shares are investments (capital gains) or stock-in-trade (business income).
Which years can it handle?
One file holds all your financial years. For Zerodha, history goes back to 2017-18, the earliest Console offers. Holdings and balances carry forward from year to year.
I trade under my family's PANs too. Can I see everything together?
Yes. Merge their accounts into one merged account to see holdings, capital gains, intraday and F&O P&L and charges across every PAN, with totals per PAN. Each PAN still keeps its own books and tax figures, and you can split them apart at any time.
Does it work offline?
Yes. SMART checks your licence online and then works offline for up to 7 days. It also updates itself when a new version is out.
